LCRA Redbud Center
The Wilkerson Center for Colorado River Education, located on the grounds at LCRA’s Redbud Center, tells the story of the lower Colorado River in Texas.
Visitors can learn how LCRA manages the river and why it’s important to conserve and protect it as this region’s main water supply.
About the Wilkerson Center
- A model of the lower Colorado River and Highland Lakes demonstrates how LCRA manages floods and water supply for the region.
- Visitors can take a self-guided tour. Access to the grounds is free and open to the public from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on holidays and during emergency operations. View a map and directions.
- The Colorado River Alliance offers educational programs and guided tours for students and other groups.
- The Wilkerson Center grounds are located at Redbud Center, which houses LCRA’s emergency and river operations. It is located on the river near Tom Miller Dam in Austin. LCRA built the energy- and water-efficient building in 2008 according to U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED guidelines.
