Resources for extending service to new areas

This section is designed to provide information about the process for extending water and wastewater services to new areas within LCRA’s service territory.

HOW TO LOCATE WATER MAINS

Water Manhole

To find the location of existing water and wastewater mains nearest a proposed development, submit a service extension request form, a $40 fee and a detailed map of the location via one of these methods:

E-mail (preferred)w_ww@lcra.org

Mail: Brad Hill
Lower Colorado River Authority
P.O. Box 220
Austin, TX 78767-0222

Fax: (512) 397-6722

LCRA will process the request and provide a description of the tract’s service area along with maps showing locations of pipes which are near the tract.

Did you know?
LCRA carefully reviews the design and construction of all new water lines and related facilities that will connect to its system. Newly constructed water lines and related facilities are typically conveyed to LCRA, which is responsible for operating water and wastewater systems. LCRA diligently reviews and inspects the design and construction of all service extensions to protect the public water supply and to verify compliance with all applicable environmental requirements.

How to start a project

  1. All new projects start with the submission of a service extension request form (link to form below). Applicants pay a $40 fee.  LCRA will review the application and notify the applicant if the request is complete and accepted.
  2. An engineer prepares a design report establishing the demands of the proposed new service and its impact on LCRA system capacity.
  3. Upon approval of this design report, LCRA provides a utility service agreement specifying the conditions under which LCRA will provide service to the property.
  4. Engineering drawings are submitted. LCRA will review all designs, and provide signature approval before construction can begin.
