McKinney Roughs Nature Park is closed due to a grassfire that started Sunday afternoon along State Highway 71 and spread into the park. Since the initial evacuation of the area Sunday, park staff and emergency response personnel are the only people allowed in the park. LCRA staff also is coordinating with Hyatt Lost Pines to prevent Hyatt visitors from entering the park.

While conditions make the fire's size difficult to estimate, the fire was about 70 percent contained as of Monday Morning. The fire has burned an estimated 125 acres and about half of that is believed to be McKinney Roughs property. No LCRA employees have been hurt, but two firefighters have sustained injuries in the fire.

The park will remain closed to the public and LCRA employees until further notice. This message will be updated as conditions change.
