LCRA's Community Services works to improve the lives of people in its largely rural service area. The goal of LCRA Community Services is to promote an enhanced quality of life and to encourage a sustainable economy through economic development assistance. It also fosters the conservation and safe enjoyment of the Colorado River basin's natural resources.

LCRA parks and recreation areas offer camping, mountain biking, hiking and more. Natural science centers provide outdoor education and recreation programs.
Natural science education and recreation programs give the public a chance to experience the outdoors and learn about the river’s role in providing clean water and a healthy natural habitat.
LCRA Public Affairs' staff works to involve the public in LCRA activities, and create strong relationships with customers, communities and elected officials.
